In this edition, we get to know Customer Service Concierge Geraldine LamYuen.
Where did you grow up?
I was born in Pago Pago America Samoa. Our family moved when I was 14 to California to get a better education and also to grow our family. Recently moved here in Vegas in 2017 from the Los Angeles area.
What prompted the move out to Las Vegas?
Many reasons, it is where a lot of my family lives. I was actually the last one to move. Being close to family is very important to me.
What is your favorite part about living in Vegas?
There is always something to do here. They call it the city that never sleeps and now I can confirm, and I so agree with that. It never sleeps!
What was your first Job?
I worked for Sony electronics for many years in customer service.
What is your favorite thing about working for Office1?
The people who make Office1. Team collaboration – Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision and the ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives.
What’s the biggest project on your to-do list right now?
Right now, managing FM audit alerts received on a daily basis and help fulfill supply orders as needed for our customers.
What excites you the most about technology?
It’s always changing. Just to know what’s next. New innovations are taking technology on the other level, nobody can predict where the technology will take us in the coming years.
Pick one of the three O’s (Origin, Operation, Opportunity) and tell us what it means to you?
A: I choose Opportunity. Everyday you have an opportunity to grow yourself. To become better. Work hard, train harder and make each day count. Most of all, it’s a blessing to have the opportunity to be a part of this amazing work family, Thank you Office1.
Do you have any nicknames and how did you get them?
Everyone calls me by Geri or Gerald but I like Geri more.
What are your biggest pet peeves?
Staring – It’s impolite and awkward.
What is your favorite quote?
Today will never come again. Be a blessing. Be a friend. Encourage someone. Take time to care. Let your words heal, and not wound.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Spending time with family. Family is everything.
Are you watching or looking forward to watching anything?
Looking forward to watching holiday movies on hallmark movie channel.
What is one thing your co-workers would be surprised to know about you?
Love to help others anyway I can, but what everyone don’t know is, I do have a terminator side.
You reference a terminator side. What do you mean by that?
Yes, the terminator side. I was referring to metals on right side of my brain, thankfully I survived my brain aneurysm. I’m a survivor.
If you could pick a superpower what would you choose?
There are so many! I would say the ability to read minds. If I could read minds, I would know what people are thinking. I am working on it!
How do you handle the changes that Covid-19 has brought to your life?
By following the CDC guidelines everywhere, I go! It has been a big impact not only physically but mentally. I see the changes that not only impacting me but my fellow coworkers, especially those with kids. We have to think positive. By having a positive mindset and supporting each other we will overcome this.
Any advice to those reading?
If we think positive taking the much need precautions and staying safe. It is our new normal. Together we will get through this.
